Running
a quick-service restaurant really keeps you on your toes. When speed is the
name of the game, there’s little time to react when your drive-thru equipment
breaks down. That’s one of the reasons stores receive multiple drive-thru
headsets with the purchase of a drive-thru headset system. Should a headset
stop working, there is another one there to back you up.
In most cases, stores will send in their drive-thru headsets once they break so
they can be repaired and go back into the mix. However, sometimes those broken
headsets are forgotten and, before you know it, you’re down to your last one. When
there’s no time to wait for drive-thru headset repairs, CE offers advance
exchange to get your drive-thru back up and running fast.
To take advantage of CE’s advance exchange program, simply call 877-731-0334,
explain the issue you’re having and CE will send the replacement drive-thru equipment
you need -- most of the time overnight! All you have to do when you receive the
equipment is take it out of the box, place your broken equipment back into the
box, and seal it. CE makes the process so easy you don’t even have to drop the
box off at a mailing facility. UPS will be notified to come back to your store
within three to five business days to pick up.
There’s no time in the life of a quick-service operator to stress over
drive-thru equipment repairs. With CE’s advance exchange repair option, you can
have peace of mind that no matter what obstacles you face with your drive-thru
equipment, CE will have a solution.
For more information on how CE can help you with repairs, installation, or

consider ordering more than one at a time. They are always useful, and when you
buy three you’ll receive the forth one free!
Multi-Store Discount--CE

get expensive. Running multiple stores can calculate to multiple repairs in a
given month. That’s why CE offers up to 25% off select products and services

It’s a fast-paced world in the QSR industry. Even with a
first-rate staff, there’s no guarantee that equipment
won’t get dropped or that it won’t fail. Drive-thru systems are no exception. Like
any other equipment that is used daily, drive-thru systems require maintenance
from time to time in order to keep things running at their smoothest. In instances like these you need a repair
facility that will get you back up and running – fast!
When it comes to drive-thru equipment maintenance, here are five
ways CE has the competitors beat:
1. Same Day Service – Most equipment will fix and ship the same day, or within 24 hours of
receipt. If that isn’t quick enough, CE also provides protection plans for a
low monthly fee that allow an advanced swap-out of the equipment that needs
repair. This means CE will ship replacement drive-thru equipment the same day
they receive your call. Once you receive your replacements, just drop your
broken equipment into the same box and UPS will come back to pick it up.
2. Factory Authorized – CE is factory authorized by Panasonic and is also the only independent
repair facility in the United States approved by HME. CE does a 35-point
inspection to ensure that every drive-thru repair receives the VIP treatment. Because the
technicians are trained by the original manufacturer, you know your repair is
built to last.
3. Free Inbound
Shipping – On top of same-day service and factory approval, you’ll also
receive free inbound shipping. Simply click on the Send In A Repair tab, and follow the three easy steps to send in
your broken drive-thru equipment.
4. Nationwide Service – CE is not only centrally located, but also has an additional repair facility
for maximized convenience and quick turnaround. This allows the capacity to
service equipment nationwide.
5. Lowest Price
Guaranteed – If you weren’t convinced by the first four reasons to send
your drive-thru equipment to CE, this will surely grab your attention: CE guarantees the
lowest price for your repair. On top of those savings, CE also runs drive-thru battery promotions, and offers discounts for new and current customers.
So whether you have a drive-thru intercom system, timer
system, or just need to send in drive-thru headset parts for repair, there’s no
need to look any further. When it comes to drive thru equipment maintenance, CE
has the competition beat.

With all of the rain, wind, and snow during the winter
months, it’s likely you will have some drive-thru maintenance to do when the
sun peeks through. Use the checklist below to ensure your drive-thru equipment
is performing at its best all year round.
Drive-Thru Speaker
Post: Check the vents in the speaker post to make sure they aren’t clogged
by leaves, mud, or any other debris that could have become wedged during a
storm or high winds.
Drive-Thru Lane:
When there is a lot of snow or rain it can cause cracks and potholes in your
drive-thru. So check your drive-thru lane for any cracks, especially near your
order point and also at your cash and pick-up windows. If moisture gets down
into the concrete it can disrupt the underground loops that detect your
vehicles.
Menu Board: Check
your menu board during the day and also at night. You want to make sure that
all of your electrical components are working correctly and that your menu
board is free of any debris. Replace any lights that have shorted or burned out.
This is also a great opportunity to check that your menu board is current. Look
over the menu items as well as the prices to ensure you aren’t misleadingcustomers.
Drive-Thru Headset
System: Test all drive-thru headsets and batteries. If you come across any
that aren’t working, call CE’s technical support at 877-731-0334. If the
problem cannot be solved over the phone you can use the free shipping label
located on the website to send in your drive-thru headset repairs. If you need
a new drive-thru battery, you can also purchase it on CE’s website.
Drive-Thru Timer:
Compare your reports from the past few weeks. If you see something that looks
out of the ordinary, pay close attention to your remote display. Is it
detecting every car? If it only detects some and not others, or doesn’t detect
any at all, contact CE’s technical support. They will help you troubleshoot the
problem and recommend the next steps to take.
With your post-winter checklist completed, you will
have the confidence that your drive-thru is in optimal condition. Sit back and
watch your sales spring ahead.

These days, sound quality in the drive-thru is really
important when you’re up against the clock. With menu items becoming more
intricate, the last thing you need is a customer having to repeat themselves
due to voice breaks in your headset. The more time spent at the menu board, the
longer others have to wait, and the fewer cars that get served. At the end of
the day, this means less money coming in to your store.
The best way to avoid these issues is by staying up to date
on your drive-thru equipment. Invest in a drive-thru system with
wideband technology and state-of-the-art noise reduction capabilities, like EOS
| HD from HME. With wideband you get an expanded audio range that includes
higher and lower frequencies which provides a more accurate representation of a
person’s voice. With the additional range you’ll have clearer conversations
which will strengthen your order accuracy and speed up the order process.
If you aren’t ready for a new system, another great option
is to purchase a protection plan from CE for all of your drive-thru
repairs. For a flat, low monthly fee you can send in your drive-thru equipment as often as
you need to get serviced. Whether it’s for static, or a broken headband or mic
boom, CE will get it fixed and back out to you in no time.
There are so many options at the menu board these days,
don’t let fragmented communication be one of them.
“Can I get a la
che ger with
ion and no kles?”
Have you had a situation like this in your drive-thru where
the person keeps cutting out, or there is so much static in your headset that
you’re having to ask them to repeat their order two or three times? It’s not
only frustrating for the customer, but also for the employee taking their
order. Most often people think that the headset must be broken, or that there
is an issue with the speaker, or that the entire drive-thru system is busted.
There are situations where that is the case, but often times
it’s a less severe problem than you think. Here are a few ways to troubleshoot
your drive-thru sound quality before wasting time and money sending in
equipment that might not be broken.
Try a few different
headsets. If the sound quality is clear in any one of them, then you can
eliminate the base station and drive-thru speaker post as the cause. Take a
headset that sounds clear, remove the battery, and place it into the headset
that is not working properly. If that headset now sounds clear, then it could
be that you have a battery that is low on juice or is just getting old. Most
drive-thru batteries have a manufacture date on the bottom. If the battery is
more than two years old it should be recycled and a new one purchased.
Clean the connections
with an alcohol pad. If drive-thru equipment isn’t cleaned on a regular
basis, then grease build-up occurs and can get into the electronic components.
If it gets into the battery compartment, it can interfere with the connection
between the battery and headset, causing static and audio cut-outs. Turn off your headset, take the battery out,
and clean the connections with an alcohol wipe where the battery and headset
meet.
Move to another area
of the store. If your headset only gets static or cuts out in certain areas
of the store then there could be an issue with the antennas on the base
station. Someone may have removed one of the antennas to adjust something else
in the base station and forgot to screw it back in, or when the antennas were
screwed in they weren’t tightened down correctly. Unscrew each of the antennas
all the way and re-thread them back in, making sure they are secured properly.
If you are still having issues with
drive-thru sound
quality, call in to our free technical support. Our friendly staff will troubleshoot
further to narrow down exactly where the problem is occurring and help you get
back up and running in no time.

I own a large, regional chain of QSRs,
each one with dual drive-thru lanes. As you might guess, I use a lot of drive-thru
equipment to keep those lanes running smoothly.
I happen to believe that HME makes the best drive-thru equipment, so all
my stores are equipped with either the HME ION IQ or Wireless IQ.
When I need to purchase a new piece of
drive-thru equipment or repair an existing one, it’s nice to know I can turn to one place
for all my needs: CE. They’ve got everything from base stations to clothing
clips, battery doors to speaker kits – and most of their products offer a
choice of new or refurbished at very reasonable prices.
CE offers free shipping on all inbound
repairs. They have advance exchange
programs when I can’t wait from something to get fixed. They even offer same-day
repair service on many of the products they fix. And if you use
drive-thru products other than HME, they can even fix those as well.
If you’re a dedicated
HME user like me, I recommend keeping the CE phone
number (877-731-0334)
on your speed dial. They have everything you need to keep your
drive-thru system running smoothly, including a full range
of accessories. And they deliver it all with fast, friendly service!
